Swedish Tyre Recycling Partners with Antin-Enviro JV for New Plant Delivery

Swedish Tyre Recycling (SDAB) has recently finalized an agreement to supply tire raw materials for the upcoming tire pyrolysis plant in Uddevalla, Sweden. This plant is a joint venture between funds managed by Antin Infrastructure Partners and Scandinavian Enviro Systems. It will harness Enviro's innovative proprietary technology to convert sorted and processed end-of-life tires (ELTs) into highly sought-after recovered Carbon Black (rCB) and Pyrolysis Oil, thus establishing a fully circular supply chain within the tire recycling sector. The strategic partnership between SDAB and the joint venture involves the delivery of a substantial volume of ELTs collected annually in Sweden, with shipments set to commence in 2025. This collaboration aims to meet the industry's growing demand for recycled materials while ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to tire recycling.

Fredrik Ardefors, CEO of Swedish Tyre Recycling, expresses satisfaction with the trust placed in the company, stating, "We are delighted to have earned the trust to supply this innovative plant under construction in Sweden, known for its stringent standards in quality and reliable delivery."

Since its establishment in 1994, the Swedish Tyre Recycling Association (SDAB) has operated as a non-profit organization under the legal framework of producer responsibility for tires. Responsible for coordinating the collection and recycling of approximately 90,000 tons of tires annually in Sweden, SDAB has embarked on a pioneering venture in partnership with local collaborators starting in 2023 to establish a distinctive and globally leading recycling organization. The primary objectives are to boost material recycling rates, foster opportunities for novel applications, and augment the value of recycled tire materials. In pursuit of these goals, SDAB aims to share expertise and foster curiosity regarding recycled tire rubber while cultivating a recycling organization that serves as a catalyst for creativity and innovation.
