ProAmpac Announces Acquisition Deal with Gelpac

ProAmpac, a leading provider of flexible packaging solutions, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Gelpac, a manufacturer specializing in polywoven packaging products and multiwall paper. This strategic move aims to bolster ProAmpac's production capacity and broaden its product portfolio across the United States and Canada.

Established in 1956, Gelpac offers a diverse range of multiwall paper bag and polyethylene packaging solutions. With six operational facilities spanning the United States and Canada, Gelpac has established itself as a reputable player in the industry. Post-acquisition, Gelpac will maintain its operational footprint and headquarters in Quebec, Canada.

The integration of Gelpac's manufacturing capabilities into ProAmpac's operations is poised to enhance service offerings across various sectors, including agriculture, food and beverage, industrial, and pharmaceutical industries in the region. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions, with the transaction expected to be finalized in the upcoming weeks.

ProAmpac will acquire Gelpac from an investor consortium led by Namakor, which includes Groupe W Investments and CDPQ. Legal representation for ProAmpac is being provided by Kirkland & Ellis and McMillan, while Fasken Martineau DuMoulin and Bradley are representing Gelpac in the transaction.
