Philips Carbon Black Commences New Commercial Production in India

India: The Indian market is all set to have an increased flow of Carbon Black as Phillips Carbon Black Ltd. (PCBL) 's new facility is all set to start commercial production in Tamil Nadu. In order to create 147,000 tonnes of Carbon Black, the project will cost about 650 crores, and establishing a 24-Megawatt captive power plant will cost about 150 crores. The subsidiary PCBL (TN) Ltd is carrying out this INR 800 crore greenfield project. The company expressed optimism that after finishing the first phase of the Carbon Black plant with a manufacturing capacity of 63,000 tonnes per year, it will be able to commence the second stage of the overall 1,47,000-tonne-per-year project during the current fiscal year.

A senior company official mentioned that "The initial stage of production has begun. We hope to start the second phase during this fiscal year." Amidst its proximity to the ports of Krishnapatnam and Ennore, the Tamil Nadu facility makes it straightforward to import raw materials and export finished items, the official added. Apart from financial incentives, he said that the project's site was chosen for a variety of strategic considerations.

According to him, PCBL will spend a total of USD 1,200 crore on the 31 MW green power plants in Tamil Nadu and Kochi, as well as the 40,000 tonnes per year of specialized carbon in Mundra in Gujarat. According to the official, the company has consistently increased the proportion of specialty Carbon Black products in the overall product mix to increase profitability. The company had previously announced the establishment of R&D centers in Palej, Gujarat, as well as Belgium to grow into new product categories and product segments.

According to the statement, the Carbon Black plant in Tamil Nadu is entirely automated and has sustainable procedures. PCBL has a 6,03,000-tonne annual production capacity for Carbon Black and 91 Megawatt of annual green electricity production. It has production plants in Kochi, Kerala, Mundra, Palej, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Durgapur, West Bengal. As per ChemAnalyst experts, this new facility will boost the rate of Carbon Black supply both in India and on the international market.
