Australia: The start of construction of Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers’ (PCF) Urea plant in Western Australia's Pilbara has been marked by a ground-breaking ceremony. The new plant is set to provide Incitec Pivot Fertilisers (IPF) with a secure, long-term supply of Australian Urea, thanks to a 20-year offtake partnership with PCF. As part of this partnership, IPF and its customers can expect to receive up to 2.3 million tonnes of Urea annually.

The recent announcement highlights a remarkable vision and an unwavering determination to uplift Australian agriculture for years to come. A world-class manufacturing facility will be established that will utilize natural gas from Western Australia to produce Urea fertilizer, which is an indispensable element for the growth of Australian agriculture. This manufacturing investment will create a substantial number of skilled jobs and guarantee a continuous stream of supply of the product for Australian farmers.

The association with Perdaman will provide the company with enormous quantities of affordable, long-term domestic Urea that can cater to both its Australian clientele and the potential for expansion into new global markets. The ever-evolving global market climate and the potential threats to the supply chain make it challenging for farmers and agriculture sectors both nationally and internationally.

IPF is thrilled to share news of its forthcoming partnership with an important project in the Australian agriculture industry. This collaboration is poised to make a significant impact and creates a lot of excitement for IPF and the industry. The Urea supply is expected to be available from mid-2027 after the completion of construction. IPF's core strategy is to provide farmers with innovative and sustainable plant nutrition solutions, while managing input costs, increasing productivity, crop yields, and improving soil health. This project represents a noteworthy stride in carrying out the strategy, facilitating the expansion of the long-term robustness and size of the business for IPF. It is also a crucial milestone towards creating two outstanding businesses - Incitec Pivot Fertilisers and Dyno Nobel.

As the largest manufacturer of plant nutrition products in Australia, IPL is dedicated to supporting domestic manufacturing and advancing the agriculture industry's goal of becoming a $100 billion industry by 2030. In recognition of its efforts, the company's latest project has earned Major Project Status from both the Australian and Western Australian governments.

With an estimated $8.5 billion in public benefits for Northern Australia, the project is expected to create 2000 construction jobs and 200 operational and indirect jobs once production begins. IPL is proud to play a crucial role in this initiative, which will pave the way for increased growth and prosperity in the agriculture sector.
