Lummus Technology, a leading global supplier of process technologies and energy solutions, has entered into two collaboration agreements with Sumitomo Chemical. These agreements involve the licensing and commercialization of the following proprietary technologies:

Sumitomo Chemical's established low-density polyethylene/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) production technology.

Sumitomo Chemical's advanced poly methyl methacrylate recycling (rPMMA) technology, known for its high efficiency.

As the sole global licensor for both technologies, Lummus will bring Sumitomo Chemical's cutting-edge innovations to a worldwide clientele, aided by Lummus' extensive global marketing reach and engineering expertise. Together, Lummus and Sumitomo Chemical will advance the rPMMA technology, building upon the advancements achieved at Sumitomo Chemical's pilot plant in Japan, with the aim of early commercialization and fostering a more carbon-neutral society.

Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technology, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Sumitomo Chemical, merging their leadership in polyolefin technology and operational excellence with Lummus' global marketing, licensing, and design proficiency. "Furthermore," he added, "we are dedicated to harnessing our combined capabilities in the circular economy to advance technologies such as rPMMA, aiming for efficient recycling of end-of-life materials. With the broadening of our polyolefins portfolio, Lummus is strategically poised to offer the most extensive range of solutions for converting diverse feedstocks into final polymers."

"Sumitomo Chemical is excited to collaborate with Lummus, offering our innovative and eco-friendly technologies to advance our green transformation objectives, including carbon neutrality, biodiversity conservation, and societal contributions," stated Seiji Takeuchi, Senior Managing Executive Officer for the Essential Chemicals & Plastics Sector at Sumitomo Chemical. " Leveraging a portfolio comprising cutting-edge technologies for ethylene production and a wide spectrum of polymer technologies that align seamlessly with our LDPE/EVA and rPMMA technologies, along with Lummus' strong marketing and development prowess, they emerge as the ideal collaborator to expand the global footprint of our technologies."

Lummus Technology stands at the forefront of creating technological solutions that enable modern living while prioritizing a sustainable, low-carbon future. Lummus Technology expertise lies in licensing process technologies across various sectors including clean fuels, renewables, petrochemicals, polymers, gas processing, as well as providing lifecycle services, catalysts, proprietary equipment, and digitalization solutions to clients globally.
