Hike in Ethanol Prices to Promote Blending and Production

Government of India has announced to increase ethanol prices by 25% to incentivise production of ethanol from sugar mills. Ethanol is branded as an alternate fuel and is blended with petrol to reduce carbon emissions. Indian government has taken this step to promote Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) production and to cut production of gasoline, the price of which is increasing at an alarming rate.
