EUROAPI's €40 Million Investment in the Sustainable Manufacture of Vitamin B12

The only Vitamin B12 manufacturing facility outside of Asia, EUROAPI's Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf facility, plans to invest gobs of money in the efficient and sustainable manufacture of Vitamin B12 in France. At its facility in Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf, EUROAPI announced that its Board of Directors had approved a €40 million investment to adopt new production technology specifically for Vitamin B12. Since European policymakers contend that Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the current energy crisis have expedited the EU's climate policy commitments, the initiative should enable EUROAPI to increase its manufacturing capacity until 2025 while minimizing its environmental impact nationwide. The French government has provided this venture with financial support totaling €7.9 million. 

The Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf site will be expanded as part of this project, and a new generation of fermentation processes will be used to boost Vitamin B12 production by more than 50%. With this innovative technology, the company will be able to create a nitrite-free process that is more reliable from the start and cut waste and water use by about 50%. Additionally, the number of processes needed to create Vitamin B12 will be lowered thanks to this novel approach. By the year 2027, the manufacturing of vitamin B12 should be operating at its maximum potential.

Through this significant investment in France, EUROAPI will be able to boost productivity in the Vitamin B12 market, which is expanding at a rate of 6% annually. The creation of red blood cells, the regulation of the neurological system, and DNA synthesis are just a few of the essential bodily functions that are powered by the consumption of Vitamin B12 and its supplements. As the only Western API manufacturer of Vitamin B12, the Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf site is essential to assure its global supply to various clients globally, including DSM and P&G Health. The facility offers downstream processing capabilities and is an expert in large-scale fermentation. The Saint-Aubin-lès-Elbeuf location complies with the highest industrial requirements and has been accredited by the GMP and ISO organizations and the global health authority.
