New Delhi: IFFCO and Coromandel International Ltd (CIL) have announced that they will be manufacturing Nano Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) for the next three years. This news comes from Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers in India, who revealed it to the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Nano DAP is the second most used fertiliser in India after urea, which makes this news more important to those who rely on its use.
IFFCO has announced plans to set up a Nano DAP plant at its Kalol unit in Gujarat. The new plant is expected to have a production capacity of 2 lakh 500 ml bottles each day.
Preliminary field trials conducted by IFFCO and CIL on select crops within select institutes of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) have indicated that the use of Nano DAP as seed treatment and foliar application could potentially reduce the amount of granular DAP (Di Ammonium Phosphate) used. According to the minister, this may lead to numerous benefits.
The government is pushing its latest product, Nano DAP, from the nano stable to reduce subsidies and promote effective use of plant chemicals. Nano DAP follows its predecessor, nano urea, which has proved to be an effective tool in improving crop yields while reducing costs. This new product is expected to further boost this effort.
