Valent BioSciences LLC has unveiled ambitious plans to address the growing demand and anticipated future expansion of its industry leading MycoApply® arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) products. To achieve this goal, the company has officially announced the construction of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in White City, Oregon. This newly planned facility will complement the existing headquarters and manufacturing operations of Valent BioSciences' subsidiary, Mycorrhizal Applications LLC, located in Grants Pass, Oregon.

In celebration of this significant announcement, executives from both Valent BioSciences and Mycorrhizal Applications, alongside local government officials and representatives from Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SOREDI), came together to participate in a momentous groundbreaking ceremony held at the designated White City site.

Mycorrhizal Applications stands as a prominent provider of mycorrhizal soil inoculants, actively involved in the research and marketing of mycorrhizal fungi. These specialized fungi play a pivotal role by colonizing plant roots, creating a mutually beneficial root-and-mycelial network within the surrounding soil. This, in turn, enhances nutrient and water absorption efficiency, optimizing plant health and robustness. The forthcoming White City facility will play a pivotal role in the production of AMF, catering to the needs of the agriculture, horticulture, as well as the turf and ornamental markets.

A noteworthy facet of this endeavor is the role of AMF in effectively sequestering carbon in the soil, aligning seamlessly with the overarching objectives of Sumitomo Chemical Company, the parent company of Valent BioSciences. Sumitomo Chemical Company has set forth ambitious goals, aiming for a substantial 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2030. Furthermore, the company has committed to achieving net carbon neutrality by 2050. AMF also function as a direct carbon capture technology, aptly trademarked as EcoDAC™ by Sumitomo Chemical.

Valent BioSciences' President and CEO, Salman Mir, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the commencement of construction activities in White City and the expansion of operations in southern Oregon. He underscored the deep-rooted connection between Mycorrhizal Applications and the region, with the company's founding dating back more than a quarter of a century.
