In November 2025, the potassium chloride market in the U.S., characterized by a declining price trend, a plentiful supply and slow demand. Pricing has declined, additionally due to the impending arrival of a container from Russia in November. Despite slight seasonal improvements in terminal shipments across the Corn Belt, demand for potassium chloride today is significantly below historical averages; many customers have large inventories on hand. The government shutdown has added to uncertainty regarding the purchasing process. The cost of fertilizer on a worldwide scale continues to increase slightly from the August 2022 low, therefore potassium chloride is remaining one of the most affordable forms of nutrition for growers. Globally, potash prices have declined very little from their high in August; currently, there are enough inventories on hand in each of the major importing markets to satisfy most of their requirements until year-end. Nutrien's strong third quarter financials and plans for a new export terminal in the U.S. indicate their continued belief in the demand for potassium chloride even with the current low prices in the U.S.
