US Oxalic Acid Prices Hold Firm in June 2026 After 12.4% Rise in May

Jane Austen 16-Jun-2026

The US oxalic acid market entered June 2026 with a firm undertone as logistics constraints, elevated import costs, and resilient specialty-chemical demand continued to influence market fundamentals. While the strong gains recorded during May established the current pricing environment, market attention has shifted toward June, where supply-chain conditions and inventory management are expected to remain the primary drivers. Demand from semiconductor cleaning, pharmaceutical intermediate production, and metal-finishing applications continues to support procurement activity, while import dependence leaves the market sensitive to freight and shipping developments. Tight inventory positions at key distribution hubs and ongoing landed-cost pressures are sustaining supplier confidence despite some signs of buyer resistance following May's rally. Rising feedstock and transportation expenses continue to provide cost support, although market participants are closely monitoring freight rates and import arrivals for indications of changing conditions. The near-term outlook remains cautiously firm, with oxalic acid prices expected to remain supported unless logistics costs ease significantly or specialty-sector demand weakens.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
