US Omeprazole Import Prices Rose in Mid-May Amid Expensive Asian Supply and Tight Supply

US Omeprazole import prices strengthened during the first half of May 2026 as higher quotations from major Asian suppliers, particularly China and India, increased import costs for US buyers. Rising crude oil prices, elevated freight charges, and tightening offshore allocations continued to support bullish sentiment in the Omeprazole market. Importers along the US Gulf Coast remained active in securing prompt cargoes as inventories stayed below normal levels, reinforcing upward pressure on landed costs. The firm market conditions followed the strong upward trend observed throughout April, when FDA quality-assurance audits and warning-letter follow-ups slowed batch releases at several offshore manufacturing facilities. At the same time, Indian and Chinese producers operated below seasonal production levels and prioritized higher-margin domestic formulations, reducing export availability for Omeprazole cargoes. Demand remained healthy across retail pharmacies, wholesalers, and procurement groups, supported by steady proton-pump inhibitor consumption and buffer-stock building ahead of tender cycles. Looking ahead, Omeprazole prices could witness further increases in the second half of May if logistics disruptions, elevated feedstock costs, and constrained offshore supply continue.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
