US BOPP Film Prices Hold Steady Before Slight Dip in Late December 2025

Yasar Kemal 30-Dec-2025

At the end of 2025, the BOPP Film prices in USA market was on the neutral-to-soft side with a slight firmness towards the end, with quotations being kept unchanged for the first two weeks of December and falling 0.18% at the third week in line with the bearish trend for 12 consecutive weeks (EMA: USD 2,790.54/MT). Cost inflation had eased due to stable prices of Gulf Coast supply polypropylene resin as well as the low feedstock prices in November impacted BOPP film production cost in December, and freights from China-to-U.S. Ocean were near lows. Down sales: The Q3-Q4 food-packaging seasonally softened downstream demand, cautious and limiting inventories at label. Flexible-packaging manufacturers helped conservative just-in-time purchasing. Domestic production and import supply from China/India have been balanced, with no disruptions or shortages, reinforcing rolling conditions early on and transitioning to mild softness amid muted post-holiday offtake and no strong demand drivers.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
