US Amino Acid prices Climb 3.9%, Forecast Indicate Uptrend to Continue

Meyer Berger 17-Oct-2025

The US amino acid market witnessed stable price recovery in September 2025, reflecting signs of renewed industry robustness. Improved supply-demand equilibrium, changing consumer patterns, and favorable macroeconomic drivers drove the recovery. After stabilizing at the start of the year, a tightening supplies situation for amino acid and firm demand from animal nutrition, pharmaceuticals, and food processing drove price rises. Supply relaxed as raw material availability returned to normal from previous disruptions despite holding tightness to ensure price stability. Demand picked up due to boosted livestock production, sustainable agriculture, and enhanced consumption of amino acid as ingredients in supplements. Macro stability with stable inflation and rising disposable incomes facilitated consumer expenditures on protein-infused products. Future prices will continue to increase over the course of late 2025 and early 2026, driven by the forces of alternative proteins, regulatory nutrient management, and gains in production. Geopolitical risk and consistent export demand also benefit from the competitive position of the US market.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
