Technip Energies, as part of the TJN RUWAIS JV with JGC and NMDC Energy, has secured a significant contract from ADNOC. The contract involves engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for the lower-carbon Ruwais LNG project situated in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi.

The project will feature two natural gas liquefaction trains capable of producing a total of 9.6 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG. It will employ electric-driven motors in place of traditional gas turbines and will be powered by clean energy sources.

This facility will mark the MENA region's inaugural LNG export plant powered by clean energy, positioning it as one of the world's least carbon-intensive LNG facilities.

The initiative will significantly increase ADNOC's LNG production capacity, meeting rising global natural gas demands while supporting decarbonization efforts.

Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies, stated, “We are privileged to receive ADNOC's award for the Ruwais LNG project, a groundbreaking endeavor in the LNG industry. This project establishes a new benchmark in energy security and sustainability by utilizing nuclear energy to power electrified LNG trains. Leveraging our expertise in low-carbon and electrified LNG solutions, we aim to bolster ADNOC's role as a dependable global natural gas provider and advance its commitment to decarbonization.”

Farhan Mujib, Representative Director and President of JGC, expressed, “We are deeply honored to secure this innovative lower-carbon LNG project, which represents the future of energy security and sustainability. We pledge to apply our expertise and experience to the Ruwais LNG project, building upon our established track record in the LNG sector. We believe our involvement will play a pivotal role in the project's success and contribute to economic growth in the UAE.”

Ahmed Al Dhaheri, CEO of NMDC Energy, remarked, "We are honored to have ADNOC entrust us with the Ruwais LNG project, which enhances our role in the UAE’s energy sector and underscores our commitment to advancing sustainable development in the country. The use of nuclear energy for LNG production establishes a new global benchmark for low-emission energy and aligns perfectly with the UAE’s strategy for a sustainable future."
