In order to swoop down the alarming increase in air pollution, Iraq’s Basra Oil Company had announced that they are paving their way in the direction of reducing the gas emission. Ihsan Abduljabbar, the Director-General of the company has accepted that Nahr Bin Omar Oil Field is deteriorating the atmosphere because of its continuous emission of burnt natural gas. He also concluded that the company is taking all possible steps to curb every operating oil well to its minimum in order to improve the stature of the environment. Not just that, the issue regarding the upsurge in the pollution level has become a headache for the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Since, Iraq belongs under the jurisdiction of OPEC and is the second-largest producer of crude, so a ruckus has started to initiate internally because Iraq was able to reach only a total of 60-70 per cent of the total target cutback. Currently, Iraqi Oil Minister, Thamir Ghadhban has commented that the country is all set to reduce its oil production and will thoroughly maintain the dignity of OPEC by complying with all its demands.
