Plug and Allied Green Sign Binding Framework Agreement for 3 GW Electrolyzer Capacity

Plug Power Inc., a global leader in hydrogen solutions for the green hydrogen economy, has signed a binding framework agreement with Allied Green Ammonia (AGA), an Australian company specializing in green ammonia production. This agreement aims to supply AGA with three gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzer capacity for its green hydrogen-to-ammonia plant in Australia. The framework agreement builds on a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the completion of a basic engineering and design package (BEDP). Both parties are now moving toward finalizing the sales and purchase agreement.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in the development of one of the world’s largest green ammonia production facilities. Plug’s electrolyzer system is expected to be delivered by late 2026 or early 2027. AGA’s facility, located on the Gove Peninsula in Australia's Northern Territory, is set to produce approximately 2,700 metric tons of green ammonia per day. The plant will leverage the region's abundant renewable energy resources and robust energy infrastructure, supplying growing markets in Asia and Europe with a reliable source of green ammonia.

The collaboration between Plug Power and AGA aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions in ammonia production by replacing traditional Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) methods with green hydrogen generated by Plug's state-of-the-art electrolyzers. AGA’s experience in the ammonia industry, combined with Plug’s advanced technology, will enable the production of green hydrogen and ammonia at competitive costs compared to conventionally produced, carbon-intensive ammonia.

AGA, an Australian-based company, is collaborating with leading global technology and materials providers to design, develop, build, and operate one of the world’s largest and most efficient green ammonia production facilities. AGA has secured critical equipment, advanced technology, and offtake agreements to drive the project's success, including Plug’s cutting-edge electrolyzers, which are manufactured at its gigafactory in New York.
