Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has introduced its inaugural brand licensing initiative in collaboration with SIM Distribuidora (SIM), which will manage three pilot fuel retail stations in Brazil.

Located in key urban areas, the three PETRONAS-branded fuel retail stations will offer customers convenient access to PETRONAS' high-performance fuel solutions. These include PETRONAS Primax™ fuel with exclusive additive technologies, PETRONAS Syntium™ lubricants, and additional services aimed at enhancing the driving experience. These offerings leverage insights and technologies derived from Formula One racing.

PETRONAS Vice President of Refining, Trading, and Marketing, Ahmad Adly Alias, stated, “For the first time, customers in Brazil will have the chance to experience our products based on our award-winning Fluid Technology Solutions™ that have fueled champions in Formula One. Additionally, Brazil’s large vehicle fleet in the Latin American region offers us an opportunity to reach a broader customer base.”

“We are thrilled to offer our Brazilian customers, who might have seen our logo at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace or Interlagos circuit, the opportunity to experience firsthand the excellence of our advanced solutions, beyond just our lubricants,” he added.

This partnership model represents PETRONAS' inaugural brand licensing strategy for entering new retail segments in global markets. Through this approach, PETRONAS licenses its brand and fuel formulations to established independent fuel retailers, utilizing their operational strengths and market expertise. Under this model, the partner assumes responsibility for the financial and operational aspects of the fuel retail stations.

“Alongside our partners, we are committed to creating value and pursuing our common growth goals,” Ahmad Adly added.

SIM has been a partner of PETRONAS as an authorized distributor of its lubricants since 2022. It operates a network of 540 retail stations across three states in southern Brazil.

“We are excited to introduce these first three stations and strengthen our strategic partnership with PETRONAS here in Brazil. We believe this will provide a fantastic new option for both our consumers and dealers,” said Neco Argenta, President of Argenta Group, the parent company of SIM.

Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) is a global energy company dedicated to producing and delivering energy and solutions that advance society in a responsible and sustainable manner. The company’s goal is to maximize value through its integrated business model, addressing both national and global energy needs.
