Ohmium International, a leading figure in the green hydrogen industry, focusing on designing, manufacturing, and deploying state-of-the-art Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, is pleased to announce its appointment to supply equipment for Croatia’s first green hydrogen initiative. Ohmium has been chosen as the PEM electrolyzer provider for IVICOM, a prominent Croatian engineering and construction firm, for a project aimed at constructing a 10MW green hydrogen facility at the INA Rijeka Refinery.

The initiative will combine Ohmium's PEM electrolyzers with a newly established solar power facility to generate green hydrogen, aimed at reducing carbon emissions from INA’s Rijeka Refinery and providing eco-friendly fuel for Croatia’s expanding transportation sector. This green hydrogen endeavor, alongside its associated solar installation, receives backing from the Croatian government’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, which includes provisions to enhance the sustainability and variety of energy resources across EU member states. Furthermore, this project aligns with Croatia’s National Hydrogen strategy objectives, targeting the installation of 70 MW of hydrogen production capacity by 2030, scaling up to 2750 MW by 2050, as part of efforts to attain climate neutrality by 2050.

"The collaboration between IVICOM’s engineering proficiency and Ohmium’s state-of-the-art PEM electrolyzer technology will be pivotal for the project's success," stated Mr. Dinko Condic, President of IVICOM’s Management Board. "This alliance mirrors our company's vision of prioritizing environmentally friendly initiatives and advancing green hydrogen innovation for a sustainable future."

"The implementation of the green hydrogen facility at the Rijeka Refinery will serve as a prominent demonstration of Europe's shift towards sustainability," remarked Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium. "Ohmium is proud to collaborate with industry leaders like IVICOM and INA on this groundbreaking initiative. Our PEM electrolyzers are particularly well-suited for integration with solar power, offering a compelling solution for refinery decarbonization and the advancement of eco-friendly transportation."

Ohmium specializes in the design, production, and deployment of modular, scalable proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, facilitating cost-effective production of green hydrogen. With a range of electrochemical solutions, the company assists customers in meeting their sustainability objectives across industrial, transportation, and energy sectors. Headquartered in the US, with manufacturing facilities in India and a worldwide reach, Ohmium proudly possesses a green hydrogen project portfolio surpassing 2 GW across 3 continents. In 2023, Ohmium secured $250 million in Series C financing, spearheaded by TPG Rise Climate.
