Ohmium International (“Ohmium”), a leader in the green hydrogen industry known for its advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, has proudly unveiled its new gigafactory in Doddaballapura, near Bengaluru, India. The facility, encompassing almost 14,000 square meters, represents a significant leap in manufacturing capability. Ohmium is poised to significantly expand its production capacity, aiming to deliver 2 gigawatts of fully assembled and quality-assured electrolyzer systems. This strategic move supports the company's robust project pipeline worldwide and reaffirms its dedication to driving sustainable energy solutions.

The new gigafactory represents Ohmium’s second manufacturing site in India and marks a significant advancement by consolidating key functions under one roof. This state-of-the-art facility integrates manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, testing, warehousing, and shipping operations, streamlining processes and high efficiency.

Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium, remarked that the ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new gigafactory represents a significant achievement for the company, allowing them to provide green hydrogen solutions to an expanding list of customers both in India and globally. He emphasized that the 2 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzer capacity at the new facility can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by four million tons annually, which is comparable to the CO2 sequestration of 180 million trees. Ballantine also noted that this milestone is only the start of their ambitious plans.

Ashwin Varma, COO of Ohmium, highlighted that their hyper-modular PEM electrolyzers are engineered for both mass production and straightforward assembly. He emphasized that by adhering to high standards of quality and efficiency in manufacturing, these systems can deliver outstanding performance at competitive costs. This approach not only enables rapid scaling of production to meet increasing demand but also drives additional cost savings as the factory’s capacity grows.

The establishment with a substantial USD investment in local real estate, advanced equipment, and skilled talent, underscoring Ohmium’s commitment to expanding its footprint in India. This development is a testament to Ohmium’s impressive and expanding leadership in the PEM electrolyzer sector within the region. Key milestones for the company include a significant 400 MW deal with NTPC in 2023, a strategic alliance with Tata Projects in 2024, and selection for the Ministry of Renewable Energy's inaugural SIGHT Incentives program.

Ohmium is accelerating its path to market by partnering with leading Indian research institutions, CSIR-CECRI and IIT Madras Research Park. These collaborations are instrumental in rapidly converting innovative green hydrogen technologies into scalable production solutions.

Ohmium specializes in designing and manufacturing scalable PEM electrolyzers that drive down the cost of green hydrogen production. Their versatile electrochemical solutions cater to diverse sectors including industry, transportation, and energy, empowering clients to achieve their sustainability targets. With a global footprint encompassing the United States, India, and other key markets, Ohmium is well-positioned to lead the green hydrogen revolution.
