Masdar Aims to Produce 1 million Tonnes of Green Hydrogen by 2030 in UAE

UAE: Masdar’s sustainability report for 2022 reveals impressive clean energy capacity of 20 GW, 18,000 GWH of clean energy generated and CO2 displacement of 10 million tonnes. In addition, the report highlights launch of green finance framework, commitment to health and safety, and pioneering programs for women and youth empowerment.

Masdar sets ambitious goal of scaling clean energy capacity to 100 GW and Green Hydrogen production to 1 million tonnes per year by 2030 with new shareholders ADNOC and TAQA. In 2022, Masdar secures multiple significant agreements in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Tanzania to expand presence in existing and new markets.

BEEAH and Sharjah collaborate to launch first commercial scale waste-to-energy project in the middle east, while work continues Al Dhafra solar photovoltaic independent power producer project, poised to become world's largest single-site solar power plant.

Masdar unveils green finance framework to guide future financing activities, including debut green bond issuance in debt capital markets, and showcase company's commitment to sustainability and best financial industry practices.

Masdar aims to lead global Green Hydrogen production with plans to scale up to 1 million tonnes annually by 2030, making way for over 6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions saving.

Masdar targets crucial sectors, such as aviation and heavy-duty transportation, to meet global Green Hydrogen demand, while nearly doubling clean energy capacity and CO2 displacement in two years on path to becoming one of the world's biggest renewable energy companies by 2030.
