On April 18, 2024, Linde disclosed that its subsidiary, White Martins, will construct, possess, and manage an additional electrolyzer aimed at generating green hydrogen for Brazil's southeast region.

The upcoming pressurized alkaline electrolyzer plant, boasting a capacity of five megawatts, will be situated adjacent to the firm's current air separation facility in Jacareí, São Paulo. Powered by renewable energy sourced from nearby solar and wind power initiatives, the new plant will yield independently certified green hydrogen.

Upon commencement of operations, the fresh facility from White Martins will furnish green hydrogen to Cebrace, a glass manufacturer, aiming to curtail emissions from their glass melting furnaces located in Jacareí. Additionally, it will cater to the burgeoning demand for cost-effective green hydrogen among both existing and prospective clients spanning various industrial domains such as metals, food, and chemicals. Anticipated to commence operations in 2025, the new plant is poised to fulfill these objectives.

In 2022, White Martins achieved the distinction of being the pioneer company in South America to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale, obtaining international certification for its plant in Pernambuco.

Gilney Bastos, President of South Latin America at Linde, expressed, "By investing in green hydrogen to cater to the industrial hub of São Paulo, we reaffirm our dedication to Brazil's energy transition. We are eager to assist Cebrace in reaching its decarbonization objectives, while also aiding our merchant customers in transitioning to more sustainable, lower carbon alternatives."
