LG Water Solutions is strengthening Oman's water infrastructure with a major supply contract for the upcoming Ghubrah III Desalination Plant. The company will deliver over 23,000 advanced seawater reverse osmosis membranes, positioning this facility to be the largest desalination plant in Oman upon its completion in early 2027. This project significantly bolsters Oman's water production capacity.

LG Water Solutions has entered into an agreement to supply its RO membranes to GS Inima for the Ghubrah III Desalination Project. This project, set to operate with a daily capacity of 300,000 m³/day, represents a substantial stride in bolstering water security in Oman. The Ghubrah III Desalination Plant will cater to the clean water needs of approximately 2.5 million residents in Muscat, while also ensuring the preservation of aquifer resources. This initiative is in alignment with Oman's 2040 Vision, which prioritizes establishing a sustainable water supply infrastructure for the nation's long-term future.

A recognized leader in desalination technology, LG Water Solutions boasts a successful history of supplying RO membrane elements to numerous desalination projects throughout Oman. Upon the operational launch of the Ghubrah III plant, LG Water Solutions' innovative NanoH2O™ RO membranes will be utilized to treat more than half of Oman's desalination capacity. Since 2016, LG Water Solutions has significantly contributed to Oman's water infrastructure, including the establishment of a new desalination facility in Sohar with a daily production capacity of 250,000 m³, solidifying its role in enhancing the nation's water security.

Furthermore, in 2018, LG Water Solutions made significant contributions to Oman's water infrastructure by supplying SWRO (Seawater Reverse Osmosis) membranes for the Salalah Independent Water Project. This project was designed to produce 120,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day, addressing critical water supply needs in the Salalah region.

In 2021, LG Water Solutions also secured a contract to supply SWRO membrane elements for the Barka V Desalination Plant, strategically located in the densely populated Muscat and Batinah regions. With a daily production capacity of 100,000 cubic meters, this plant plays a crucial role in meeting the region's growing water demands.

The superior performance of LG Water Solutions' products and engineering support will optimize operations at the Ghubrah III plant by reducing feed pressures, leading to substantial energy savings and operational efficiencies. Positioned as a leader in the field, LG Water Solutions is driving forward this ambitious project with state-of-the-art desalination technologies and expertise, demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability and technological advancement. The Ghubrah III plant not only enhances Oman's water security but also serves as a global benchmark for future desalination initiatives.

Dr. Hoon Hyung, Head of LG Water Solutions and Vice President of LG Chem, expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in LG Water Solutions by GS Inima, highlighting their long-standing track record in the Sultanate of Oman's RO membrane business. He also expressed LG Water Solutions' gratitude for GS Inima's selection as the membrane supplier for the Ghubrah III project. They highlighted the significance of being entrusted with this role, emphasizing their commitment to contributing to securing the region's ever-growing water needs. Hyung underscored LG Water Solutions' commitment to delivering high-quality membrane solutions that support critical infrastructure projects and sustainable water management in Oman.
