Japanese Polypropylene (PP) producer- Japan Polypropylene has decided to call off operations at its 70,000 tpy PP production line at the Goi plant located in East Japan's Chiba prefecture starting January next year. The decision has been taken in accord with the bearish market sentiments and demand slowdown for domestic PP products (especially general-purpose products). Japanese PP traders have also reported that there has been increased production of cheaper PP in the Middle Eastern and Asian region in recent months. There was another news of the closure of company’s 106,000 tpy PP line at its Kashima plant in Ibaraki prefecture in April 2020.The Goi plant is mainly into manufacturing of PP films, sheets and other industrial products. Japan Polypropylene is joint venture company with 65% stake owned by Mitsubishi’s Japan Polychem, and 35% by JNC Petrochemical, a fully-owned subsidiary of Chisso.
