Jan 2026: Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate Market Balances in Asia After 9% Increase in Dec-25

Marcel Proust 19-Jan-2026

The market value of Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate in the Asian markets has stabilized in the January of 2026. The market prices of Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate have reflected normalization after the sharp increase in the feedstock market in the last month of year 2025. The acetic acid values has increased significantly in December of 2025 which has temporarily inflated production cost of Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate across the Asian region. The market participants have reassessed their procurement strategies with greater caution in the new month of 2026 which marks the beginning of the fresh quarter. The buyers have not rushed to secure the stock volumes and the suppliers have stabilized their offers due to the more predictable feedstock behaviour. The January has created a more balanced trading environment as the demand was aligned with the supply. The demand dynamics have followed the actual consumption requirements of Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate rather than speculative and defensive procurement. The stabilization of the prices in January has reflected that the Magnesium Acetate Tetrahydrate market has absorbed price shocks and has transitioned into a more measured phase.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
