Indian Oil’s Fully Loaded Crude Carrier Headed towards Paradip Catches Fire

It was 45 minutes past 7 on Wednesday morning according to the Indian time when it was heard that the New Diamond, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) booked by Oil Corp (IOC), which was heading to the port of Paradip in India caught fire about 20 nautical miles off the east coast of Sri Lanka. The state-run refiner operates a 300000 bpd refinery. The data showed that the ship was arriving from the port of Mina Al Ahmadi in Kuwait, carrying Kuwait Export Crude, Refinitiv Eikon ship and was carrying about 2 million barrels of crude oil. The Sri Lankan air force has sent an aircraft and two navy ships to assist in the rescue efforts.
