India’s Goa Carbon Ltd. has announced maintenance turnaround at its Paradeep Unit located at the village Udayabata, Paradeepgarh district of Odisha with effect from 11th January 2021.

Goa Carbon’s total installed capacity of Calcined Petroleum Coke stands at 308 KTPA, with its Paradeep unit having the largest capacity at 168 KTPA followed by Goa at 100 KTPA and Bilaspur at 40 KTPA. However, the company’s production was recorded at 148 KTPA during FY20, indicating capacity utilization of 50%.

The company is the key raw material supplier to both domestic and international aluminum smelters, graphite electrode and titanium dioxide manufacturers, including several consumers across the metallurgical and chemical industries.

As per the company’s annual report for the financial year 2019-20, it remained under a significant downside pressure due to the rising upstream costs and disrupted margins. However, looking at the recent consumer shift towards the domestic products, it is hoping that its operations will stabilize in the near term and that the increment in demand will fetch better performance results than anticipated in FY21.
