Formosa Plastics Completes Turnaround at its Texas Complex

As revealed by a market source, Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A has completed turnaround period at its 0.9 million mt/year cracker at Texas. The planned work at the Point Comfort unit had started in mid-March.

The planned maintenance drive was announced after the successful restart of the company’s 1.2 million mt/year cracker and 0.75 million mt/year cracker which remained shut due to winter storms which triggered shutdowns at several petrochemical facilities in the US Gulf Coast. All the three units of Formosa Plastics are part of the company’s Texas complex.

The restart of 0.9 MMTPA unit also allows Nan Ya plastics, sister company of Formosa Plastics, to resume the production at its 800 KTPA Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) facility from its Point Comfort location.
