FKuR and Braskem Prolong Collaboration in Bio-based EVA Distribution

Germany's leading bioplastics expert, FKuR, has significantly expanded its strategic partnership with Braskem through the acquisition of a distribution agreement for I'm Green bio-based ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). This groundbreaking agreement encompasses various regions, spanning the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Israel, and India. The extension of this collaboration not only fortifies the longstanding partnership established in 2011 but also introduces EVA to FKuR's existing portfolio of I'm Green bio-based polymers, which includes PE, LDPE, LLDPE, and HDPE.

Braskem, a prominent Brazilian petrochemical company, manufactures this environmentally conscious EVA using ethanol derived from sustainably cultivated sugarcane. The unique ability of sugarcane to absorb carbon dioxide during its growth phase plays a pivotal role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of these bioplastics. The I'm Green product line boasts a bio-based content ranging from 45% to 80%, in adherence to the ASTM D6866 standard. In a significant move last year, Braskem made a substantial $87 million investment to amplify its production of bio-based plastic feedstock by nearly 59,000 tonnes in Triunfo, Brazil.
