The Elengy LNG Terminal Strike continues, affecting business till April 18

France: Elengy-operated LNG import terminals in Europe primarily in France is expected to undergo industrial action for another four days, along with strike action being extended until April 18th. The port operator issued a force majeure declaration, requiring operations to be scaled back to the absolute minimum today and lasting for at least 48 hours. The LNG small-scale truck-loading bay, the berthing jetty for LNG vessels, and operations will all be restricted to a "technical minimum" during this time. This comes after the closure of France's three major import ports, the Montoir, the Fos Cavaou, and the Fos Tonkin.

Nevertheless, there is still a chance that unloadings will start happening again at the Montoir and Fos Cavaou ports. The Fos Cavaou, Montoir, and Fos Tonkin plants' activities have been hampered by the March-starting strike. All three terminals will still be unable to accommodate small-scale truck loading operations, although Fos Cavaou and Montoir anticipate getting their first deliveries on April 15.

Also, from  14 to 18 April, Fos Cavaou's send-out rate significantly increased. Regasification is currently on hold until April 19, although the terminal has added a second cargo of LNG that day and moved the original delivery date up to April 15 instead. With this delivery, there are now five scheduled deliveries at Fos Cavaou for the current month.

Elengy's most recent data indicate that Montoir is expecting a delivery, with send-out increasing significantly. Fos Tonkin is expected to maintain constant regasification levels from April 14 to April 30. Late today, the French constitutional council gave its approval to the majority of the proposed pension reform proposal. However, Laurent Berger, general secretary of the French Democratic Confederation of Labour, stated on April 13 that there may be room for further industrial action in France over the upcoming weeks, with unions planning for significant demonstrations on May 1.
