In January 2026, there has been an upward trend in the export prices of benzoic acid in the Netherlands. This indicates an improvement in the demand for the product globally. The country has continued to be a key player in the European market for benzoic acid, contributing to most of the exports going into the EU. The upward trend in the prices of benzoic acid in the Netherlands has been a result of the strengthening demand for the product globally. There has been a period in which the export prices were either stagnant or were rising gradually. However, there has been an increase in prices as the volume of shipments has remained stable. At present, there is an indication from the market analysis that there will be a continuation of the upward trend in prices in the first half of 2026. In the future, there is a positive indication for the consumption of benzoic acid globally. Therefore, the trend will be in favor of the Netherlands as it will continue to be in the leading position in the market for benzoic acid up to 2026.

Selenis has effectively manufactured recycled PET chips using terephthalic acid sourced from Circ®, a textile-to-textile recycler based in Virginia. The chip production took place through a series of batches at Selenis' pilot plant in San-Giorgio, Italy. By utilizing inputs recovered from polycotton textile waste, Selenis has created high-quality PET chip, which has been further processed into DTY yarn. This yarn will play a crucial role in product development as Circ prepares for additional capsule launches. Selenis is leveraging the success of this initial collaboration phase and is committed to advancing towards an offtake partnership to support Circ's inaugural industrial facility. Eduardo Santos, Head of Corporate Strategy at Selenis, remarked that the monomer synthesis showed a performance comparable to virgin terephthalic acid. He expressed optimism about the consistent quality of Circ's monomer output and anticipated future commercial success. Santos pointed out that the Circ partnership complements Selenis's existing mission and goals for a more sustainable textile industry. He further stated their anticipation of expanding upon this collaboration and providing support for Circ's forthcoming commercial production trials.
