Clariant Catalysts and Lummus Technology Secure Contract for New CATOFIN® Plant in China

Clariant, a specialty chemical company committed to sustainability, has secured a contract to provide CATOFIN catalysts for Qingyang Tongxin Petroleum Technology's inaugural paraffin dehydrogenation facility. Located in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, China, the plant is designed to process 300 KTA of propane and isobutane from liquefied petroleum gas feedstock, producing chemicals and refined products. Clariant will collaborate on this project with its longstanding process partner, Lummus Technology.

The CATOFIN process integrates Lummus's cutting-edge PDH technology with Clariant's custom catalysts and Heat Generating Material (HGM) to efficiently convert liquefied petroleum gas into on-purpose olefins with unmatched reliability. This process has consistently demonstrated enhanced productivity, frequently surpassing design capacity (averaging up to 110%), thereby delivering substantial returns on investment for producers and enabling highly profitable daily operations.

The Qingyang Tongxin project represents the 40th installation since 2017 to utilize CATOFIN technology and catalysts for paraffin dehydrogenation.
