Century Lithium Corp. has announced the successful integration of a Lithium Carbonate production stage at its Lithium Extraction Facility (Pilot Plant) in Amargosa Valley, Nevada, which is part of its wholly owned Angel Island Mine (the Project). Previously, concentrated lithium solutions from the Pilot Plant were processed by Saltworks Inc. at their Richmond, B.C. facility to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate samples. In the initial phase of operation for the new lithium carbonate stage, Century’s Pilot Plant team effectively processed 200 liters of concentrated lithium solution, yielding 20 kg of high-quality lithium carbonate on-site.

The Company is advancing its Pilot Plant operations by implementing its patent-pending chloride leaching process combined with Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) to collect data for further technological advancements. These innovations aim to enhance the economic feasibility of lithium extraction from clay. The addition of the lithium carbonate stage at the Pilot Plant, as recommended in the Feasibility Study, is designed to validate the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate and improve the understanding and management of recycle streams from the DLE stage to the final product.

With the expertise of Hargrove Engineers and Constructors, Century’s team has configured the equipment to process 40-liter batches of concentrated lithium solution through precipitation, washing, and drying. The final assays of the produced lithium carbonate are currently pending.

Bill Willoughby, President and CEO, emphasized that producing lithium carbonate at their Pilot Plant is a crucial advancement, aligning with the recommendations from their recent Feasibility Study. He acknowledged the impact of falling lithium prices on the share values of lithium companies but stressed the continued importance of domestic production for U.S. supply security. Willoughby noted that Nevada's claystone deposits hold significant lithium resources. Unlocking these deposits will enable the production of battery-quality lithium on-site, which could reduce or eliminate the need for downstream processing, enhancing both efficiency and supply security.

Century Lithium Corp. is a well-advanced lithium development company with a singular focus on its wholly-owned Angel Island Mine in Nevada. The company has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of a comprehensive feasibility study for its Clayton Valley Lithium Project and is currently progressing through the permitting process. By securing a domestic lithium supply, Century Lithium is strategically positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning electric vehicle and energy storage markets. The company's strategic emphasis on its Nevada-based operations, coupled with its advanced project development stage, underscores its commitment to becoming a major player in the North American lithium landscape.
