Indian Viscose Filament Yarn (VFY) prices improved in July, supported by stronger domestic and overseas demand, slightly restrictive supply, and rising prices of other textile raw materials. Downstream demand strengthened as spinning mills increased coarser-count yarn production, raising raw yarn consumption. Overseas demand remained steady, while improved export competitiveness supported market sentiment and further strengthened VFY demand. Supply conditions remained supportive, with higher pulp and auxiliary chemical costs and limited availability of good-quality material pushing prices upward. Rising cotton prices, driven by tightening global supply, weather risks, and firm demand, further supported VFY pricing, while higher cotton procurement costs encouraged mills to quote premiums. Supply delays in North Indian textile hubs, particularly Panipat, temporarily affected material availability because of traffic restrictions. Looking ahead, easing supply and raw material costs, alongside seasonal preparation for winter clothing production, are expected to influence demand and price trends.
