BPCL Likely to Resume Operations in Crude Unit of Kochi Refinery by July End

After a three-week maintenance turnaround, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), one of the largest state refiners in India, have planned to restart operations in 200000 bpd crude unit in Kochi refinery by July end this year. The company had shut operations in crude unit from second week of June for scheduled maintenance following the resumption of operations in Bina refinery with 156000 bpd crude capacity. The refinery at Bina with a single crude unit was shut in the first half of June for routine maintenance. The restart of facilities in Bina’s crude unit gave BPCL an ease to undertake the turnaround that was longed for several months at Kochi refinery. Furthermore, BPCL has planned to shut the catalytic reformer at Mumbai refinery for three-week maintenance from 1^st August 2020. BPCL encompasses 15.3 per cent of India’s overall refining capacity of 249.8 million tonnes. The company has altogether 4 refineries at Mumbai, Bina, Kochi and Numaligarh.
