Fluor Corporation has made an announcement regarding the commencement of its Polyol Petrochemical Project, which is awarded to them by Bharat Petroleum Corporation at their existing integrated refinery in the state of Kerala, India. The primary work includes the front-end engineering of the battery limits, procurement, and construction of the refinery’s adequacy. President of Fluro’s Energy and Chemicals Business, Mr. Mark fields, said that he feels honored to be selected as a Project Management and Consultant for BPCL’s Polyols Project in Kochi. He also added that as per the plan, six new process units will be built into the existing refinery, which will include propylene oxide, propylene glycol, polyols, ethylene oxide/mono ethylene glycol, ethylene recovery unit and a cumene unit. With the help of approximately 250 KT of polymer grade Propylene, the refinery will be capable of producing various grades of polyols.

The Executive Director of the BPCL’s Kochi Refinery, Mr. Murali Madhavan said that this advancement in the infrastructure will be beneficial for the domestic market as it will cut short the country’s import dependency for Polyols which is a major feedstock for the manufacturing of polyurethanes, required to produce footwear foam and other items. The contract has been booked in the fourth quarter of 2019, while the contract value is still not disclosed.
