BASF is amplifying its lineup of biomass-balanced EcoBalanced products, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in advocating for environmentally conscious solutions for detergent and cleaning product manufacturers, as well as industrial formulators. Collaborating closely with customers, BASF remains dedicated to accelerating the shift from fossil-based raw materials to renewables. Under the initiative "Care 360° – Solutions for Sustainable Life," the Care Chemicals division places sustainability at the forefront, addressing key issues crucial for the future of markets and industries.

"Soeren Hildebrandt, Senior Vice President of Home Care, I&I, and Industrial Formulators Europe at BASF, emphasizes, "With a robust surge in sustainability demand from consumers and European clients setting high standards, BASF is stepping up by continually enhancing our portfolio. The expanded EcoBalanced range not only reduces carbon footprint but also offers our customers sustainable drop-in solutions with identical product quality and performance to conventional counterparts."

BASF's product spectrum for the detergent and cleaning industry, along with industrial formulators, will feature approximately 20 biomass-balanced EcoBalanced products. These items undergo a production process where fossil-based raw materials at the beginning of the production chain are replaced with renewable materials sourced from organic waste and other origins. Similar to the concept of green electricity, the proportion of renewables is allocated to the respective sales products using a certified mass balance method. Depending on the product, the product carbon footprint (PCF) of items within the EcoBalanced series can be reduced by up to one hundred percent. Furthermore, these products exhibit equivalent performance to conventional counterparts, seamlessly integrating into existing formulations without requiring reformulation.

Both the attribution process and the actual EcoBalanced products undergo TÜV Nord certification, adhering to the standards of the global REDcert² scheme. The EcoBalanced portfolio serves as a testament to BASF's commitment within the Care Chemicals division to proactively address future challenges. Sustainability, digitalization, innovation, and novel collaboration approaches are foundational elements of Care 360°– Solutions for Sustainable Life.
