Anti-Dumping Duty to be Imposed on Yarn Imports from Major Southeast Asian countries

To guard domestic players from cheaper yarn imports from China, Indonesia, and Vietnam, Indian government may impose anti-dumping duty on certain variety of yarns in India. Indian Manmade Yarn Manufacturers Association had alleged that dumped imports from these countries were causing material injury to the domestic industry. This was followed by a notification from the Commerce Ministry's investigation arm, Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) which stated that it has initiated investigation against dumping of 'Viscose Spun Yarn' by companies in these three countries. DGTR will initiate the investigation for April to December 2019 and would also consider the 2016-19 data. If it is determined that the dumping has impacted domestic industry, the directorate would suggest imposition of the duty.
