Nevada [US]: The American Battery Technology Company (ABTC), based in Reno, Nevada, has recently partnered with global critical infrastructure solutions giant Black & Veatch. In a technical services agreement, Black & Veatch will provide support in the design, construction, and commissioning of ABTC’s first commercial-scale Lithium Hydroxide manufacturing facility, located in Tonopah, Nevada.

This facility is being built with the assistance of a competitively selected U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant and will aim to commercialize ABTC’s process for manufacturing battery-grade Lithium Hydroxide using unconventional Nevada-based Lithium-bearing sedimentary resources. The facility will have the initial capacity to produce up to 30,000 metric tons of Lithium Hydroxide annually.

The successful construction of a one-of-a-kind facility that is crucial to the energy security of the United States and will support the rapidly growing domestic Lithium-ion battery industry. After conducting a rigorous global search process, Black & Veatch to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services. With their vast experience in high-purity chemicals manufacturing, successful track record of delivering projects on-time and within budget, and significant experience with government-funded projects, we are fortunate to have formed a long-term partnership with such a global leader.

Black & Veatch, a company with a proven track record of providing sustainable solutions, is offering its expertise to clients in the critical minerals chemical refining industry.
