Eastman and Rotuba Join Hands to Supply Face Shields in Fight Against the Pandemic

To combat acute shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) in hospitals across the nation, Eastman Chemical Co. and Rotuba have collaborated to manufacture face shields for medical personnel fighting on frontlines in country’s battle against the pandemic. As per the collaboration terms, Rotuba will utilize Eastman’s cellulose acetate to manufacture more than 75,000 face splash guards per week which will be used by healthcare workers and country citizens to avoid contagion of coronavirus. Rotuba, a renowned company into manufacturing pens has creatively come up for producing face shields, utilizing an existing material in a new application.

The produced splash guards will be made available across the United States and supplied at nominal rates. Cellulose Acetate supplied by Eastman is a material used in a variety of consumer products and widely known for its optical quality, resistance to hospital cleaning agents, and ability to be desirably molded for this application. The produced splash guards are reusable and comfortable, ensuring safety of healthcare providers who are tenaciously striving to ensure nation’s safety.
